Workers in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, are voicing their demands for higher wages, better working conditions, and guaranteed weekly days off amid ongoing protests. Currently, many workers earn between ₹10,000 and ₹15,000 per month and are seeking revisions to ₹18,000-₹20,000 due to rising living costs. The Uttar Pradesh government has established a high-level committee, chaired by the industrial development commissioner, to address these concerns following a directive from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The committee includes members from various government departments and representatives from labour unions and industry bodies. Workers have also raised issues related to job security and the need for strict enforcement of labour laws. District Magistrate Medha Roopam stated that the committee aims to resolve these issues through dialogue and will submit recommendations to protect workers' interests while maintaining industrial peace. Further meetings are planned to discuss the key demands, especially wage revisions.
