Bhupinder Singh Hooda (Leader of Opposition in Haryana) has expressed strong opposition to the Haryana government's new wheat procurement guidelines, which include tractor verification, biometric authentication, and the requirement of guarantors for selling wheat at the minimum support price (MSP). He argues that these conditions are creating significant hardships for farmers, potentially leading them to sell their produce outside the mandis at a loss. Starting Saturday, Hooda, along with party officials and MLAs, will visit local mandis to evaluate the situation firsthand. He has urged the government to announce a bonus on wheat, provide compensation for crop damage, and ensure that mandis are fully prepared for procurement. Hooda also highlighted shortages of necessary supplies such as gunny bags and tarpaulins, as well as a lack of labor, which could hinder the procurement process and delay payments to farmers.
