The Xeno Arena Update in No Man's Sky has introduced a new feature called Creature Battles, where players can engage in turn-based tactical skirmishes with their adopted companions. To begin these battles, players must locate Holo-Arena tables, which can be found in key locations such as the Space Anomaly, planetary outposts, and settlement buildings. After completing a tutorial battle with the NPC Oceanus, players can challenge increasingly stronger opponents. To participate, players need to adopt companions using Creature Pellets made from a Nutrient Processor, forming a battle team of up to three creatures. The complexity of battles is influenced by the creatures' affinities and abilities, with eight different affinities affecting attack and defense outcomes. Victorious players can earn rewards, including nanites, invitations to challenge Alien NPCs, and Retroviral Pellets.
