Meg Simon, a forward at Middlebury College, has received the 2026 NCAA Hockey Humanitarian Award, making her the first recipient from her college and the fifth from NCAA Division III in the award's 31-year history. The award was presented at the Park MGM Ballroom during a ceremony that also honored other NCAA hockey award winners, such as the Hobey Baker Memorial Award. In a statement, Simon expressed her pride in representing her family, Middlebury Athletics, and Division III hockey. Her extensive volunteer work includes co-chairing volunteer opportunities for her women's hockey program, mentoring with RADical Health, and serving as President of Middlebury College Access Mentors. Middlebury's head coach, Bill Mandigo, praised Simon for her genuine care for others. In addition to the award, the Hockey Humanitarian Award Foundation donated $3,000 to Special Olympics Vermont Addison County, further highlighting Simon's commitment to community service. Other nominees for the award included Kara Goulding from Boston College and Grace Sadura from Minnesota Duluth.
