Param Ashawar, a 36-year-old NIS-certified football coach from Madhya Pradesh, has made a significant personal sacrifice by taking out ₹10 lakh (approximately $12,000 USD) in loans to support the District Raisen Football Club (DRFC). His investment has paid off as the team qualified for Tier 2 of the Indian Women’s League (IWL), a historic achievement for grassroots football in a state not traditionally known for its football prowess. DRFC finished their debut campaign with four points, including a memorable 1-0 victory over the more established Odisha FC. Ashawar's commitment to the team included funding their training kits and travel expenses, driven by his belief in the players' potential. Despite the financial burden, he remains dedicated to nurturing their talent, stating, “The victories of my team more than make up for my worries.” The Madhya Pradesh Football Association has recognized this achievement as a pivotal moment for women's football in the state, inspiring future generations.
