On Saturday morning, a machete-wielding man attacked three individuals at the 42nd Street–Grand Central subway station in New York City. The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Anthony Griffin, was shot dead by police after he refused to comply with their orders to drop the weapon. The attack began on the 7 train platform, where an 84-year-old man was struck on the head, followed by a 65-year-old man who suffered severe head injuries, including an open skull fracture, on the platform for the 4, 5, and 6 lines. A woman was also slashed on the shoulder. All victims were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover.
