The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is set to construct a U-turn underpass at the Bijwasan toll plaza on the Dwarka Expressway, requiring 8.5 acres of land. A survey by AECOM-CEG indicates that 6.67 acres of this land is already within the expressway's carriageway, while an additional 1.7 acres of private land will need to be acquired for approach roads. The total land requirement is around 34,500 square meters, which includes 27,000 square meters within the right of way and 7,000 square meters from a green belt owned by a private developer. The zoning status of this green belt is under verification. The proposal was discussed in February during a meeting led by NHAI chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav. Residents have expressed support for the underpass, emphasizing that it will enhance safety and convenience for commuters, who currently face challenges in navigating the toll plaza. They have suggested implementing a temporary U-turn facility until the underpass is completed.
