Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has strongly refuted allegations made by Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera, who claimed that Sarma's wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, holds passports from three countries and that Sarma concealed property details in his election affidavit. Sarma identified several discrepancies in Khera's claims, including a surname mismatch and inconsistencies in nationality documentation, labeling the allegations as a 'crude and poorly executed attempt at digital manipulation.' He expressed confidence that Khera's campaign of misinformation would ultimately lead to accountability and legal repercussions for Khera. Khera's allegations included claims that Sharma holds passports from the UAE, Antigua and Barbuda, and Egypt, and that she owns properties in Dubai and a company in Wyoming, USA, which were not disclosed in Sarma's election filings. Sarma characterized Khera's statements as desperate attempts to distract from the Congress party's declining position in Assam politics.
