Smita Prakash, the editor at Asian News International, was invited as the chief guest for an event at Miranda College, part of Delhi University. Upon her timely arrival, she was dismayed to find the auditorium nearly empty, with only four or five students present and no staff or organizers in sight. The event was scheduled to begin at 11 am, but Prakash noted that even the convenor had not arrived. In a video shared on social media, she emphasized that such tardiness reflects a lack of respect for guests, stating, 'Tardiness equals to disrespect.' Her post garnered significant attention online, with many users echoing her sentiments about the importance of punctuality and professionalism in academic settings. Journalist Aditya Raj Kaul and former Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi also expressed their support for Prakash's call-out. As of now, Miranda College has not issued any statement regarding the incident.
