The Delhi High Court has mandated the removal of the 2006 song 'Mafia Mundeer' by rappers Yo Yo Honey Singh and Badshah due to its vulgar and derogatory lyrics that objectify women. Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav expressed that the song disregards basic standards of civility and cannot be justified as artistic expression, especially since it is accessible to minors. The court highlighted that the lyrics not only dehumanize women but also normalize their treatment as objects of ridicule. The petition, filed by Hindu Shakti Dal, claims that despite the rappers denying involvement, Honey Singh performed parts of the song at a concert, reigniting controversy. The court has issued notices to both artists and directed the Centre to ensure the song's removal from platforms like YouTube and Spotify. The case is scheduled for further hearing on May 7.
