K.C. Venugopal (general secretary of the All India Congress Committee) has accused the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in Kerala of running a misleading campaign regarding the funds collected by the Congress for building houses for families displaced by landslides in Wayanad. At a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram on April 7, 2026, he challenged the state government to investigate these allegations. Venugopal assured that the Congress party would complete the promised housing within six months if the United Democratic Front (UDF) comes to power. He also criticized the LDF's performance, noting that it took 10 years to complete 5 lakh houses, contrary to their initial five-year promise. Additionally, he highlighted the LDF's inadequate increase in welfare pensions and alleged that the Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society Ltd (ULCCS) has received numerous contracts without proper tenders, comparing its influence to that of Adani Group with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Venugopal expressed confidence that the UDF's guarantees would lead them to victory in the upcoming Assembly elections.
