The Edinburgh Worldwide Investment Trust, managed by Baillie Gifford & Co., has endorsed a proposal from Boaz Weinstein's Saba Capital Management after its own proposal failed to secure enough shareholder support. The trust's board had proposed a plan allowing shareholders to receive approximately 85% of their holdings in cash, deferring the remaining portion tied to SpaceX until a future liquidity event. However, 36.8% of shareholders voted against this proposal, with 53.8% of total votes cast opposing it. Shareholders will have the opportunity to vote on April 30 to potentially replace the trust's board with candidates put forward by Saba. Edinburgh Worldwide's Chairman, Jonathan Simpson-Dent, expressed disappointment at the outcome but acknowledged the likelihood of Saba succeeding in its board appointment efforts. This development represents a significant milestone for Weinstein, who has been actively seeking control over several UK trusts since December 2024.
