Vishal Varma, a 20-year-old student from Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, tragically lost his life when a basketball structure collapsed on him at a private maritime college in Induri, Maval, Maharashtra, India. The incident occurred early Sunday as Varma was returning to his room after completing his morning routine. He stopped at an empty basketball court to perform pull-ups when the broken structure fell, causing serious injuries. According to Santosh Patil, senior police inspector at Talegoan MIDC police station, Varma sustained a scarf fracture and was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. There are allegations regarding delays in ambulance response, although this has not been officially confirmed. An accidental death report has been filed, and authorities are investigating potential negligence related to the maintenance of sports infrastructure.
