In a significant move to enhance early childhood education, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced the integration of pre-school classes at anganwadi centres with Sishu Vatikas in government schools. This initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and aims to strengthen the foundation for students aged five and six. Currently, children spend their first two years at anganwadi centres before entering Sishu Vatikas, which are set to expand in the 2025-26 academic session. The CM highlighted that Sishu Vatika 3 has already been established in 45,042 government schools, enrolling children aged five. Additionally, the construction of Godabarish Mishra primary schools is underway, with a budget provision of ₹6 crore to ₹7 crore for each school. These schools will focus on the holistic development of students. The CM also emphasized the importance of the Khadi Chhuan ritual, which aims to foster respect for learning and ensure no child is left behind in education.
