A significant group of legislators in Karnataka, including Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs), is preparing to meet the All India Congress Committee (AICC) leadership in New Delhi to urge Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to initiate a comprehensive Cabinet reshuffle. This push comes after the recent bypolls and as the Congress-led government approaches its three-year anniversary next month. Many MLAs, including Ashok Pattana, Puttaranga Shetty, and Rizwan Arshad, are keen to secure Cabinet positions, particularly as Siddaramaiah has previously indicated readiness to proceed with the reshuffle once he receives approval from party leadership. The delay in the reshuffle has been attributed to ongoing lobbying efforts from various factions within the party, including those aligned with Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who may be seeking to position himself for a future leadership role. The Chief Minister is particularly focused on filling two vacant Cabinet positions left by resignations, emphasizing the need for timely action to maintain his reputation among key voter groups.
