The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 14, is a 210-kilometre route designed to drastically reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from approximately 6.5 hours to just 2.5 hours. This expressway will ease congestion on the Delhi-Meerut corridor and provide a high-speed alternative for commuters and tourists. The six-lane access-controlled expressway features a speed limit of 100 kmph and includes seven interchanges, two rail overbridges, and 10 major bridges. Notably, a 12-kilometre elevated section will traverse the Rajaji National Park, incorporating two elephant underpasses and six animal crossings to ensure wildlife safety. Built at an estimated cost of ₹12,000 crore (roughly $1.45 billion USD), the expressway is expected to bolster economic growth and improve access to major religious sites in Uttarakhand, including connections to the Char Dham Highway project.
