The Delhi Ridge Management Board (DRMB) has yet to hold its first meeting more than four months after its reconstitution, primarily due to delays in appointing two civil society members. The board, established by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) on December 1, 2025, is tasked with overseeing the conservation of the Delhi Ridge and has been granted statutory powers following a Supreme Court directive in November. The previous Ridge Management Board, which lacked such powers, last convened in July 2025 and approved various projects for the Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee (CEC). The Delhi High Court recently expressed dissatisfaction with the prior board’s decision to invest approximately ₹223 crore (roughly $27 million USD) in fixed deposits rather than utilizing the funds for conservation efforts. The court has directed the Delhi government to hold an emergency meeting to develop a plan for the effective use of these funds for the Ridge's preservation and management.
