Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was seen dancing to a BJP campaign song during a rally in Bongaigaon, Assam, on Sunday. This event is part of the party's outreach strategy ahead of the Assam Assembly elections scheduled for April 9, 2026. Sarma launched three theme songs aimed at building an emotional connection with voters. One of the songs, ‘Asomor Surakhya, Bikashor Protigya’ (Assam’s protection, promise of development), was written and composed by Pabitra Margherita, the Union Minister of State for External Affairs, and sung by Rakesh Riyan. Another track, ‘Lage Lage Lage Akou Abar BJP Sarkar’ (Need, Need, Need, BJP Govt Once More), was penned by Vidyasagar Borah, chairman of the Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio, and performed by Aranyam Dowarah. BJP spokesperson Jayanta Kumar Goswami emphasized that these songs are designed to convey the government's message of development and welfare initiatives to voters across the state. The election results will be announced on May 4, 2026.
