Thol. Thirumavalavan, the president of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), asserted that 'politics of hate' has no place in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during a press conference in Puducherry on April 5, 2026. He expressed confidence that the Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA) would achieve significant success in the upcoming Assembly elections, citing the DMK government's implementation of various welfare-centric schemes over the last five years. Thirumavalavan criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that despite their promises, voters would respond negatively, ensuring SPA's victory. He mentioned that while the Left parties in Puducherry were not given seats to contest, their support for the alliance remains strong. The VCK has announced candidates for several constituencies, and following discussions, the Oulgaret seat was confirmed for them. Additionally, Thirumavalavan raised concerns about Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar's participation in an event organized by the RSS-BJP, arguing it violated the Model Code of Conduct, and he has formally requested the Governor's replacement.
