The Indian government has made significant changes to the regularisation process for 1,511 unauthorised colonies in New Delhi, easing the requirements for residents. Previously, residents needed a sanctioned layout plan to apply for regularisation; this requirement has now been removed. Instead, residents can have building plans prepared by any architect empanelled with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced that drone surveys will be conducted every 1.5 to 2 months to monitor any unauthorized constructions or expansions. Additionally, the Pradhan Mantri-Unauthorized Colonies in Delhi Awas Adhikar Yojana (PM-UDAY) portal will be transferred from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to the Delhi government's revenue department, which will now handle the issuance of conveyance deeds and authorisation slips.
