In the fiscal year 2025-26, retail sales of vehicles in India surged to 29,671,064 units, reflecting a 13.3% increase from 26,187,255 units in FY25, according to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA). Passenger vehicle sales rose to 4,705,056 units, a 13% increase from the previous year's 4,163,927 units. Similarly, two-wheeler sales saw a growth of 13.4%, reaching 21,420,386 units compared to 18,889,595 units in FY25. The introduction of GST 2.0 helped stimulate demand, overcoming a slow start to the fiscal year. However, FADA remains cautiously optimistic, noting potential impacts on vehicle demand in India due to geopolitical tensions arising from the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
