Bengaluru police have arrested Gagan N Deep, a former contractor for the Infosys Foundation, in connection with a ₹6 crore (approximately $720,000 USD) fraud involving Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) grants. Deep allegedly exploited his insider knowledge of the Foundation's operations to misrepresent himself as a senior official and induced the Karnataka-based Mysore Mercantile Company to transfer funds under false pretenses. The fraudulent activities included issuing fabricated sanction letters and forged grant agreements for projects like housing and health centers. The case came to light in March 2026 when an executive from Mysore Mercantile filed a complaint against Deep. Following his arrest on April 3, police are investigating the full scope of the fraud, including the potential involvement of accomplices and the flow of funds to other entities. The Infosys Foundation has issued warnings to the public regarding unsolicited funding requests.
