The Uttar Pradesh Police have intensified their investigation into a suspected cross-border radicalization and sabotage network, arresting two men, Owiad Malik and Jalal Ahmad alias Sabeer Jafari, in Bijnor district. This follows the issuance of look-out circulars (LOCs) against two more suspects, Maijul, believed to be in South Africa, and Azad, suspected to be in Dubai. The police's actions are connected to a Pakistan-backed terror module that was dismantled in Lucknow on April 3, where four individuals were arrested for plotting anti-national activities. The investigation gained traction after interrogating Saqib, one of the arrested, who revealed names of overseas handlers. Authorities suspect that the suspects are using encrypted applications like Telegram to recruit youths from western Uttar Pradesh. The police are also reviewing a previously closed case involving a viral video from November 2025 that allegedly showed one of the suspects with weapons. As a result of the investigation, local police officials have faced disciplinary action for their oversight.
