Saskatchewan's Provincial Protective Services (PPS) is on the verge of becoming the third Canadian jurisdiction to receive accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). After successfully completing its final on-site assessment in Regina, the PPS is now recognized for its commitment to professional standards in law enforcement. Established in 2022, the PPS consolidates various enforcement services, including conservation officers and highway patrol members. The CALEA accreditation process involved demonstrating the effectiveness of training, equipment, and operational practices in ensuring public safety. With fewer than one in 18 police forces in North America accredited by CALEA, Saskatchewan aims to join Winnipeg and Camrose as the only accredited forces in Canada. CALEA President Grayson Robinson emphasized that the standards promote accountability and operational excellence. The provincial government believes this accreditation will enhance coordination with law enforcement and attract new recruits to the PPS, further solidifying their commitment to public safety.
