Flipkart, the Walmart-owned e-commerce giant, is intensifying its focus on artificial intelligence (AI) by appointing Hemant Badri to lead its AI transformation charter. CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy outlined this initiative in an internal email, stating that Badri, who is currently the Senior Vice President and Head of Supply Chain, Customer Experience, and Re-Commerce, will identify and operationalize business use cases where AI can have the most significant impact. Krishnamurthy emphasized that this shift is essential for leading the company into the next decade, as the industry landscape rapidly evolves. He described the 'AI-first' approach as placing intelligent systems at the core of Flipkart's operations, which will enhance customer experiences, improve seller tools, and boost internal productivity by automating routine tasks. However, he also stressed the importance of maintaining a 'human-in-the-loop' approach to ensure that technology aligns with customer and seller needs.
