The anti-immigration fraud unit of the Panchkula district police in Haryana, India, has arrested three individuals involved in a significant immigration scam totaling ₹35 lakh (approximately $42,000 USD). The accused, identified as Sandeep Kumar from Patiala, Pawan alias Pammi from Panchkula, and Satnam Singh from Pitampura, Delhi, deceived a local resident, Krishan Lal, by promising to send his son to the United States on a work visa. They exploited a family connection to gain the victim's trust and collected the money in cash installments, even pressuring him to sell his land to meet their demands. In December 2023, the accused falsely claimed that the victim's son had received a work visa and was sent from Delhi airport. However, it was later discovered that he had been sent illegally via an unauthorized route and was subsequently detained and deported back to India. Following the victim's complaint, police arrested the three accused and recovered ₹14 lakh in cash, with ongoing efforts to trace additional gang members and examine seized mobile phones.
