During the inauguration of the 'Mahakal The Master of Time International Conference' in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan proposed the establishment of 'Mahakal Standard Time' (MST) to replace Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). He emphasized Ujjain's historical significance as the original center of time calculation, where the Equator and the Tropic of Cancer intersect. Pradhan stated that this initiative would help re-establish India's scientific pride globally and promote a blend of spirituality and science. He also highlighted the introduction of new courses in artificial intelligence (AI) at the school level to ensure Indian students remain competitive in the global educational landscape. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav supported the proposal, stating that Ujjain's time measurement system is more accurate than GMT and reaffirmed the government's commitment to developing Ujjain as both a religious and scientific hub. Additionally, preparations for the Simhastha-2028, the world's largest cultural fair, are in progress, with significant investments aimed at improving Ujjain's infrastructure.
