Andhra Pradesh is set to unveil India’s first open-access quantum computer test beds located in the Amaravati Quantum Valley project. This initiative, led by the Andhra Pradesh State Quantum Mission, aims to provide researchers, startups, and institutions with access to quantum computing systems for algorithm development. The two test beds, the 1Q test bed at Medha Towers and the 1S test bed at SRM University, utilize locally sourced components, showcasing a significant 'Make in India' effort. The project has garnered support from esteemed institutions such as the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Researchers will focus on creating 100 algorithms over the next two years, addressing various challenges, including optimizing ambulance positioning based on data from emergency medical services. The unveiling is scheduled for April 14, coinciding with World Quantum Day, and aims to encourage the startup ecosystem to develop software for testing on these quantum systems.
