In Kharar, Punjab, India, police arrested a man for allegedly producing forged land documents while trying to secure bail for Karan Singh, who had received bail from the Punjab and Haryana High Court. During the bail hearing, the court discovered inconsistencies in the jamabandi, a document used as proof of identity and property, which was verified by a local revenue official (patwari) as not genuine. The suspect initially identified himself as Wazeer Kumar but later revealed his true name as Hardeep Singh, a resident of Jalandhar. Following this revelation, the court instructed the Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station City Kharar to file a case. The police subsequently took the suspect into custody and registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Indian Justice Code).
