The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has recorded a remarkable ₹18.4 trillion in gross merchandise value (GMV) since its inception in 2016. In the financial year 2025-26 (FY26), the platform processed 75.7 lakh orders worth ₹5 trillion, with micro and small enterprises (MSMEs) securing 47% of the total order value. GeM CEO Mihir Kumar noted that MSMEs constitute 73% of active sellers and captured 68% of orders in FY26, receiving 51+ lakh orders valued at ₹2.36 trillion, surpassing the mandated 25% procurement threshold. The platform has seen significant growth in women-led MSMEs, startups, and SC/ST ventures, with over 20% growth in these categories. Additionally, GeM has implemented AI-driven interventions to enhance catalog integrity, removing faulty listings and identifying buyer-seller collusion. The platform's inclusive design has lowered entry barriers for various enterprises, ensuring competitive pricing and market integrity. Notably, states such as Uttar Pradesh led procurement efforts, while central ministries and autonomous bodies also reported growth in their procurement values. Key achievements include the procurement of 318 crore vaccine doses and 77 lakh computers, demonstrating GeM's impact on public procurement.
