During a state-level function in Adampur, Jalandhar, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana, marking a significant step towards empowering women in Punjab, India. This initiative allows women aged 18 and above to receive ₹1,000 monthly, while those from the Scheduled Caste community will receive ₹1,500. The registration process has commenced in nine assembly segments, including Adampur and Patiala Rural, with 26,000 registration centers established across the state. Mann emphasized that this scheme fulfills a key promise made by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) during the 2022 elections, aiming to enhance women's financial independence. A total outlay of ₹9,300 crore has been designated for the initiative, which will begin disbursing funds from July. However, the government has excluded certain groups from eligibility, including government employees and individuals who paid income tax. A high-level committee has been formed to oversee the implementation of the scheme.
