In the first quarter of 2023, retail space leasing in Delhi-NCR increased by 45%, reaching nearly 6 lakh square feet compared to 0.41 million square feet in the same period last year, according to data from real estate consultant Cushman & Wakefield. Shopping malls dominated this growth, accounting for 64% of total leasing, while high streets contributed 36%. Despite a 10% decline in overall retail leasing across India's top eight cities, Delhi-NCR led with a 30% market share, reflecting strong demand from both domestic and international brands. Experts attribute this robust leasing activity to rising consumer confidence, evolving lifestyles, and the increasing popularity of organized retail formats. With new supply expected, industry leaders anticipate continued strength in leasing activities, underscoring a shift towards quality retail spaces.
