The Maharashtra state government has initiated the distribution of food grains for April to ration card holders. Approximately 90% of the necessary stock has reached distribution centers, with regular distribution set to begin on April 10 and continue daily except Mondays. This distribution is crucial for the lakhs of beneficiaries dependent on the public distribution system. The previous month's distribution was incomplete, leading to an extension until April 7, but unclaimed rations from March will not be available. Urban beneficiaries will receive wheat and rice, while rural beneficiaries will also receive kerosene. Notably, jowar distribution has been suspended for this month, limiting supplies to wheat and rice only. The supply department has emphasized the importance of timely collection to avoid losing access to the rations.
