Vijay, the chief of the Tamilaga Valvurimai Katchi (TVK), filed his nomination on Thursday for the Trichy East constituency in Tamil Nadu, promising to establish an 'honest government' if elected. He criticized the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging widespread corruption amounting to thousands of crores and highlighting the lack of basic amenities in government schools. Vijay urged voters to reject both parties, emphasizing the need for accountability. In his campaign manifesto, he proposed various initiatives, including financial support of ₹4,000 (approximately $48 USD) per month for graduates and ₹2,000 (approximately $24 USD) for diploma holders, alongside measures to create anti-drug zones in educational institutions. Tamil Nadu's elections will take place on April 23, with counting scheduled for May 4, marking a significant contest primarily between the DMK-led alliance and the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
