Experts suggest that XRP, the digital token on the XRP Ledger, is less vulnerable to potential quantum computing threats than Bitcoin. XRP's architecture, including features like key rotation and escrow time locks, offers enhanced security against quantum attacks, while Bitcoin's design exposes a larger portion of its supply to risks.
- 01XRP's design limits exposure to quantum threats compared to Bitcoin.
- 02Key rotation and escrow features provide additional security for XRP.
- 03Bitcoin's public keys are more exposed, increasing vulnerability.
- 04Dormant XRP accounts are safer due to unexposed public keys.
- 05Bitcoin holders face structural challenges in mitigating quantum risks.

Experts have indicated that XRP, the digital asset operating on the XRP Ledger, is less exposed to potential quantum computing threats than Bitcoin. This is primarily due to XRP's design, which reveals a smaller share of its public keys during transactions. The XRP Ledger includes features like key rotation and escrow time locks, enhancing its defenses against quantum attacks. In contrast, Bitcoin's architecture exposes a significant portion of its supply to vulnerabilities, particularly because early Bitcoin transactions used a format that directly displayed public keys. Estimates suggest that between 2.3 million BTC and 7.8 million BTC may be vulnerable, representing 11% to 37% of Bitcoin's circulating supply. XRP's validator Vet conducted an audit revealing that around 300,000 XRP accounts holding 2.4 billion XRP have never sent funds, making them quantum-safe by default. However, some dormant accounts that have previously transacted remain at risk. Bitcoin holders face a structural issue, as they lack a key rotation feature, forcing them to move funds to new addresses, which exposes them during the transaction process. While Bitcoin developers are exploring solutions for quantum resistance, XRP's existing features provide a more robust defense against these emerging threats.
