The Delhi government has launched a comprehensive anti-pollution awareness initiative across all schools in the capital for the 2026-27 academic session. This program mandates monthly activities that focus on critical environmental issues such as plastic waste, air pollution, water conservation, and noise control. The campaign, which began in April 2023, encourages students to participate in various activities, including cleanliness drives, poster-making, and essay writing aimed at reducing single-use plastic. Each month will spotlight different environmental themes, such as biodiversity in May and water conservation in July, culminating in intensified efforts against air pollution during the winter months. Schools are required to adopt practical measures like waste segregation and integrate environmental themes into daily routines. To ensure effective implementation, schools must submit monthly Action Taken Reports (ATRs) to district authorities. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to combat severe pollution in Delhi by fostering a culture of environmental awareness among students, who are expected to carry these lessons into their homes and communities.
