Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary reported to the Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly that 527 of the 691 stone crusher units in the Union Territory are operational, while 164 are non-functional, including 48 that have been sealed. He emphasized that the closure of these units has not adversely affected ongoing development projects. The government is actively enforcing regulations under the Jammu & Kashmir Minor Mineral Concession, Storage, Transportation of Minerals and Prevention of Illegal Mining Rules, 2016, to combat illegal mining and ensure the smooth operation of stone crushers. Additionally, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah introduced a bill aimed at decriminalizing certain offences to enhance ease of doing business and tabled the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports for the financial years 2023-24 and 2024-25. The Secretary of the legislative assembly also announced that the Lieutenant Governor (LG) has assented to three bills passed by the assembly.
