Gail (India) has announced the approval of a 600 MW solar project in Uttar Pradesh, which will also feature a 550 MWh co-located battery energy storage system (BESS). This initiative marks a significant expansion of the company's renewable energy efforts, as its current solar capacity is only 29 MW. The total investment for this project is estimated at ₹3,294.86 crore (approximately $396 million USD), and it is expected to be completed within 15 months. The funding will be sourced through a combination of debt and equity. In its recent financial report, Gail noted a 19.5% drop in standalone net profit to ₹1,602.57 crore for Q3 FY26 compared to the previous year, alongside a 2.5% decline in gross sales to ₹34,075.81 crore. Following this announcement, Gail's stock price fell by 0.26%, closing at ₹153.65 on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
