A festive gathering in Pilligundla Thanda village, Mahabubabad district, Telangana, turned tragic when Banoth Bichcha, a farmer, choked on a piece of mutton during a family meal celebrating the Durgamma festival. The incident occurred last Tuesday as Bichcha dined with relatives, who quickly noticed his struggle to breathe. Despite their attempts to help, he lost consciousness and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Gudur Community Health Centre. His sudden death has left his family and community in deep mourning, as he was the primary breadwinner. Following a complaint from Bichcha's son, local police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Medical professionals have reiterated the importance of eating carefully, especially during festive meals, to prevent such tragedies.
