The Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) is officially expanding to Detroit, with a new team set to begin play in 2029. While 'Detroit Shock' is being considered as the team name, discussions regarding trademark rights are ongoing, as the name was previously associated with a successful franchise that won three championships before relocating.
