On Monday, approximately 30 Congress MLAs from Karnataka convened with party president Mallikarjun Kharge in New Delhi to advocate for a long-overdue cabinet reshuffle. Senior Congress MLA Ashok Pattan emphasized that their demand was strictly about reshuffling the cabinet and did not involve any leadership changes. The delegation, which included seasoned legislators like S.N. Narayanaswamy and K. Shadakshari, expressed that it was essential to accommodate more senior leaders in the government. Pattan reiterated their singular focus on the reshuffle, stating that they would await further discussions with senior party leaders before returning to Bengaluru. The Karnataka cabinet currently has a sanctioned strength of 34 ministers, but two positions are vacant due to recent resignations and dismissals. If the party leadership agrees to a reshuffle, it may signify stability for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, potentially allowing him to complete his full term and impacting internal dynamics within the state unit.
