In celebration of National Student Employment Week from April 12-18, UC San Diego Library emphasizes the significant role of student employees in shaping their career paths. These students engage in diverse tasks across Geisel Library and WongAvery Library, gaining valuable skills such as time management, teamwork, and communication. For instance, Katrina Graziano, a student employee since Spring 2022, has developed expertise in library systems and is now preparing for a Master of Library and Information Science program. Similarly, Hannah Yick, who worked in Digital Experience, contributed to winning the 2024 Inclusive Excellence Award for improving accessibility on digital platforms. Current students like Annie Bui and Kasper Lee are also building skills that will benefit their future careers, while Kyle Hauschild emphasizes the importance of libraries in providing equal access to education. With over 50 student employees, UC San Diego Library continues to be a vital resource for both academic growth and professional development.
