The principal of Baliram Hiray College of Architecture in Bandra East, Mumbai, Sunil Magdum, has been booked for cheating following allegations from around 13 students regarding fraudulent practices in the issuance of their marksheets. The students, who completed a three-year interior designing course in the 2021–22 academic year, reported delays of nearly one-and-a-half years in receiving their marksheets. Initially, the college claimed affiliation with Sangai International University, but the University Grants Commission (UGC) revoked this recognition in 2024, casting doubt on the validity of the students' qualifications. Subsequently, the college affiliated with Sikkim International University and issued new marksheets, which students allege contained numerous discrepancies, including QR codes that linked to unrelated institutions. The complaints have raised serious concerns about the authenticity of their academic documents, impacting students' job prospects. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena Students Wing condemned the situation, calling it a serious scam that undermines the education system. An FIR has been registered under sections 318 and 319 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, but no arrests have been made yet, and investigations are ongoing.
