On early Monday, a mining department team in Rae Bareli district, Uttar Pradesh, faced a dangerous situation when an overloaded trailer carrying red sand collided with their official vehicle during an enforcement operation. The incident occurred around 4 am near the Ring Road close to the Sharda canal, as the team led by mining inspector Suresh Lakra was inspecting for illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minor minerals. The trailer struck the department's official Scorpio vehicle forcefully before fleeing the scene. Although Lakra sustained minor injuries, other team members were unharmed. Police registered an FIR at the Mill Area police station and are working to identify the trailer using surveillance footage and highway checkpoints. Investigators are assessing whether this act was an attempt to evade checks or a deliberate obstruction of government officials. The mining department has intensified enforcement checks in response to ongoing complaints about illegal excavation and transportation of red sand in the region.
