The Uttar Pradesh government has reported that it utilized 81% of its budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, as stated by Finance Minister Suresh Khanna. The total revenue collections reached ₹2,23,060 crore (approximately $27 billion USD), an increase of about ₹10,228.10 crore from the previous year's revenue of ₹212,832.08 crore. However, this figure represents only 75.1% of the target set for the period. The government has utilized around ₹6.51 lakh crore of the original budget of ₹8.08 lakh crore. Khanna noted that GST was the highest revenue earner, contributing ₹82,547.40 crore, with only a marginal increase compared to ₹82,535.14 crore in 2024-25. The excise revenue, which amounted to ₹57,722 crore, was the second highest, although it showed a decline from the previous year. The state government has urged all departments to develop action plans for the 2026-27 fiscal year to ensure continued development.
