In an emotional Instagram video, she expressed her determination to continue competing, despite the challenges posed by the ruling. Van Leuven, who made history as the first transgender woman to participate in the PDC World Darts Championship in 2024, criticized the DRA's policy as detrimental to the trans community, especially in light of similar restrictions from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) regarding the 2028 Summer Games. She emphasized her commitment to the sport and her desire to find a new path forward, despite feeling increasingly marginalized.
