In a tragic incident early Friday, a car carrying a family plunged into the Nira canal near Natepute in Solapur district, Maharashtra, India, resulting in the drowning of two family members and leaving one missing. The deceased have been identified as Hanumant Laxman Jathar (58) and Manjula Hanumant Jathar (48), while their daughter, Priti Sunil Tilekar (30), remains unaccounted for. The family was en route from Mumbai to Phondshiras when the driver, Sunil Tilekar (33), lost control of the vehicle on a bridge, causing it to fall into the canal. Sunil managed to escape and swim to safety, alerting local residents and police, who subsequently launched a rescue operation. The police have recovered the vehicle and filed an accidental death report, but are also investigating potential family disputes, as Sunil and Priti were reportedly undergoing divorce proceedings.
