Piyush Mishra, an actor and writer, has opened up about his long-standing struggle with alcoholism, describing it as a 'deadly disease' that impacts both personal and professional life. In a recent podcast, he explained how addiction can lead individuals to believe that alcohol is necessary, often without recognizing their dependency. Mishra shared that although he never acted while drinking, his alcoholism influenced his behavior, leading to hurtful interactions with his mother and inappropriate phone calls to women, which he later regretted. He acknowledged that his actions affected his professional relationships, causing colleagues to view him as temperamental and difficult to work with. Despite having a brain stroke in 2009, which prompted him to seek help, he admits he has not fully quit alcohol but has learned to manage his cravings through spiritual practices. Mishra emphasized that while he can control his addiction, he still identifies as an alcoholic, highlighting the ongoing nature of this struggle.
