The commissioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the upcoming Kerala Assembly elections began in Kozhikode district on April 2, 2026. This process covers all 13 assembly constituencies and is expected to conclude by April 3, 2026. The operation is conducted under the supervision of Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers, with representatives from various political parties present to ensure transparency. A significant aspect of the process is the candidate setting stage, where ballot labels with candidates' names and symbols are affixed to the EVMs. Once verified, these units will be sealed and stored securely until distribution to polling officials a day before the elections. The district will utilize 3,550 ballot units, 3,550 control units, and 3,830 VVPAT machines, all previously tested for functionality. To enhance security, all procedures related to EVM management will be recorded on camera.
