Punjab's Finance and Transport Minister Harpal Singh Cheema announced plans to expand the state's public transport fleet by adding 1,265 buses. This initiative includes 659 buses for the Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) and 606 buses for PUNBUS. Recently, 250 buses were introduced under the Kilometer Scheme, which allows private bus owners to customize their vehicles while meeting government safety standards. The minister highlighted that PRTC is currently tendering for 309 standard buses and 100 Midi buses to further enhance regional transport.
